The Best ‘The Daily’ Rumor You’ve Heard Today

I can’t explain why I’m so stupidly obsessed with Murdoch’s tablet thingy. I almost want to do an entire post on all the crazy rumors I’ve heard about it. Instead, I’ll tell you just one thing that I’ve heard, simply because it’s so bonkers that it can’t possibly be true, and you should hear it before it launches and is disproven, because somebody should do it!
Okay, so there was some chatter a while ago that The Daily would not have a website; that it would only be available as an app. That’s modestly nuts, but not outrageous, given the walled content conversation going on right now.
However, the rumor I’ve heard is even crazier: there will be a website, but there will be no homepage, and everything will be blocked from search engines. That means: articles are there, but you can only find them if someone links to it.
Now, I don’t know if that’s actually how this thing is going to launch. But if it does – THAT WILL BE AMAZING.
The implications for bloggers, search engines, social media, twitter – everyone – is fascinating. I hope it happens.
